Are you looking for a nice holiday home? This fort might be just right for you!

Have you always been curious about what it’s like to live in a military fort? Then this is your chance! Spitbank Fort is located in the English Channel. The fort has been converted into a luxury island worthy of James Bond scenes. You do need to have deep pockets because the fort will cost you about 4.5 million euros…

This extraordinary complex is already a 150 years old. You will not get bored here. The fort includes a wine cellar, a spa, and a casino. It forms part of three artificial islands that were built by the British Army in the waters near the Isle of Wight in the 60s and 70s. The fort, which used to serve defensive purposes, has undergone several makeovers and it served as a museum, a night club, a filming location, and a boutique hotel, among others.

In 2009, the fort was bought by a businessman. He renovated the 3066-square-meter private island with three stories and 4.6 meter thick granite walls. In 2012, £8 million was invested in it. The rooms are arranged in two concentric circles around the central courtyard, with suites on the inside and a library and a lounge on the outside. If you happen to get seasick, you can disembark in London within 15 minutes.
