Everyone is guilty of this: placing everything on the kitchen counter. If you’ve eaten something, that’s where you put it back. Or if you’re done cooking, you leave the dishes… But also, it’s is extremely practical for pots and appliances since these will then be at your fingertips. However, not everything should go on the counter… Starting now, the following things should never be kept on the counter again.
Spices
Picture spices. Spice jars look super nice and can also brighten up your kitchen. Besides being stylish, it’s also convenient to have them within reach while cooking. However, it’s not the best idea to have these on the counter. Especially if they are near your gas stove. That’s because heat causes your spices to lose a lot of their flavor. Even direct sunlight can have this effect as well. So keep your spices in a cool, dark place.
Kitchen appliances
Appliances are likewise often placed on the counter. Think of a blender, toaster, sandwich iron, etc. You often don’t use all your kitchen appliances on a regular basis. It’s a shame that these items are just collecting dust. It’s best to store them away. This unclutters your kitchen and gives it a more serene ambiance.
